Summer
This week we have been talking about places we would like to visit and how we would get there. The children voted on their favourite place and wrote their name to show which they preferred. The top two places were soft play closely followed by swimming.
Special Toy Day
At the start of our toy topic, we brought toys that were special to us. We looked at their materials and everyone told us why they were special to them.
Y1-Tony Peek Visit
We enjoyed a visit from the poet and author, Tony Peek today at school. He shared some of his poems and songs with us. We did some amazing fish dancing and laughed a lot.

Performing the story of Jack and the Beanstalk
We retold the story of Jack and the Beanstalk by taking the different characters and changing our voices. We discussed the characters, setting and the events.
To the rescue!
After all of the teddies in Nursery went missing we decided to make hero capes and go and find them. We have developed our mark making skills and written our superhero name on the back. We have listened to and used lots of positional language to describe where they were found.
People Who Help Us- Firefighters
We enjoyed listening to the Firemen from Lancaster about their job and how they help people. We asked some great questions e.g where do you get the water from ? We learnt lots of new facts.

Traction Man Adventures
We have loved reenacting the Traction Man book this week. We have escaped the ‘evil cushions’ and delved into the ‘soapy waters’ to escape the ‘poisonous dishcloth!’ We have enjoyed making up our own adventures too.

X marks the spot
Today we have followed a simple map to find a new toy for Nursery. We have used lots of directional language. The children were very good at looking for clues on each photo to find the next place to look.
