We have enjoyed looking and learning about the french artist Henri Matisse. We have copied his style and explored making our own collages and a group collage.
All Stars Cricket KS1
Coach Steve came in to tell us all about Allstars Cricket. We practised some cricket skills e.g throwing , catching, holding a bat, hitting and controlling the ball.

Year 1 Science-Sorting animal diets
We have enjoyed finding out and sorting what different animals eat. We have used the vocabulary herbivore, carnivore and omnivore. We have also thought about what we eat!
World Book Day reading with Year 4 and Year 1
Year 4 really enjoyed meeting up with Year 1 to read to each other for World Book Day. We shared our stories and watch The Masked Readers sent in from each class. What a lovely time we had together!
Year 1 World Book Day
We really enjoyed dressing up for World Book Day and all the fun activities we we did. We listened to the famous illustrator Axel Scheffler (Gruffalo, Room on the Broom, Zog) who showed us how he illustrated some characters and read us some of his favourite books.

Year 1 Maths- comparing 2 digit numbers
We made 2 digit numbers using a range of resources and compared them using greater than and less than.
Year 1 Science- Animal Hunt
To start our new topic, we went to discover the animals we found in our school garden. We found out that the smaller animals (insects) like damp, dark places like under the logs and rocks. We found some woodlice, a ladybird, a snail and a slug!
Active Mile
Well done to all our classes who completed their active miles this week and to everyone who walked to school rather than driving. Our miles have been logged! Well done EVERYONE
In role as our characters
We thought of questions using our question hand to ask “ Harry the Happy Mouse”. We enjoyed being the different characters and listening to how they felt.
Smelling Experiment
Continuing to explore our senses, today we investigated our sense of smell. We predicted what we thought the smell was and then we revealed the actual. It was good fun predicting !
