Today, we have been learning about 3D nets as part of our DT work on packaging. 
 

We have been making different shapes from plasticine to investigate water resistance. We looked at the shapes of boats and fish to make different streamlined shapes that travelled faster through the water. 

Today Year 5 and 6 went to Lancaster University for a “Be the Change Day” focusing on the environment.
This was organised by the students of the university and took place on campus.

This week the Worship team led our whole school Worship on Lent. 

We were very lucky to have Julia Donaldson read a traditional tale as part of our literacy topic this week. We also had an illustration masterclass from the famous illustrator, Axel Scheffler.

Thank you to Mrs Kornas who brought in their beautiful pet guinea pigs. We learnt all about how they care for them , what they eat and where they sleep. We all had the option to give them a stroke too! 

Today we have been designing our characters, writing the plot, and practising our stop-motion animation skills in groups. Within our groups, we each had an important job- controlling Noah, controlling the raindrops, controlling the animals, and camera-person!

We explored mixing the primary colours to make secondary colours. We also discussed how we could make them lighter and darker.

We have been learning about division for the first time in class today.  Here we are using the counters to make equal groups.  It was great fun and it really helped us to see the link with multiplication.

Today, we have started to learn all about forces. We have watched a video about Isaac Newton and how he discovered gravity. We then used Newton meters to measure the amount of force needed to pull objects back down to earth and found out how this links to the mass of each object.
