Year 6 showed great athletic skill and resilience this morning as they embarked on their 1 hour sponsored run to raise money towards our upcoming day trip to the Lake District. The weather was just perfect for us (not too hot with a gentle breeze). Some children chose to run every lap, whilst some did a mixture of walking and running and we had as many rest breaks as we needed. We were all really proud of the children as they tackled their challenge with enthusiasm and positivity right to the end. Miss Huddleston and Mrs Walsh also joined in a few laps to encourage the class and even Hilary (who helps with Eco-group and was on the field looking after the tree saplings we planted) ran a lap!
Amazingly, we completed a total of 780 laps of the field which equates to approximately 100 miles in the hour (an average of 3.5 miles per child).
A huge WELL DONE to all the children and thank you to those who have sponsored us. Your contributions will really help towards the cost of our Lake District trip.
