We made equal groups and made a repeated addition number sentence to work out the answer.
Partitioning decimals
Year 4 have been flexibly partitioning decimals. We have been doing this in a very practical way using place value counters. We had to come up with 5 different ways to partition each decimal.
A cave in the corner of Year 3?!
Here are all of our amazing pictures based on cave paintings! We have written diary entries based on our book "Stone Age Boy". We are also loving finding out more about Prehistoric Britain with some new non-fiction books.
Decimal decision game
We have played a decimal decision game today. We used our knowledge of place value when using decimals to decide where to put our chosen digit to make the largest number, smallest number or have an odd/even number in the tenths/hundredths column.
Y4 Crown Green Bowling
It’s been a hot afternoon practising our crown green bowling skills today. Coach Dan taught us how to hold the bowl and how to use the weight to make our bowl travel in the right direction. We certainly improved as the afternoon went on.
Year 2 visit to church
Year 2 are currently looking at why the church is important to Christians. Rev Rebecca showed us round the church and explained about the different furniture, artefacts and services.
Investigating Stonehenge in Year 3
In Year 3 we are now learning about the Neolithic Stone Age (the New Stone Age) when farming was first used widely in Britain. We have been learning about the amazing monument of Stonehenge and how it was made. We did a fact treasure hunt to find out as much as we could about it. It is incredible…
Beginning to Measure in Y1
We went around the classroom and outside the classroom to measure objects using non standard units. We used cubes to measure !
Repeating patterns.
Our book this week is The Very Hungry Caterpillar. We linked our Maths lesson and we made caterpillars using repeated patterns.
Y3 Cave Paintings
We are continuing our history topic, investigating the Stone Age, and this week made some pictures of cave art using ink washes to create the cave walls and charcoal/pastels with our own stencils to show the animals. We are really pleased with the results!
Pupil Parliament
Four children went to the Pupil Parliament meeting today and thought about sexual equality. They discussed different jobs and toys that can be advertised for specific genders. It was really interesting and thought provoking.
