This morning, Year 4 cooked their own Welsh Rarebit as part of their Design and Technology topic. They chopped the bread into festive shapes, grated the cheese, mixed the ingredients and spread it onto their bread. After a few minutes under the grill, it was ready for tasting. Yum!
 

In DT we have been exploring different Christmas colour schemes and fonts for our packaging. Here are some of our designs. Next we will chose our favourite scheme and decorate our cardboard nets. Watch this space!

We are continuing our DT topic of packaging and today we practised the skills of careful cutting and folding.  We learnt to use scissors to score the card so that we could get a really good fold. We made 3D Christmas houses to help decorate our class Christmas tree!

This week, Year 6 have been learning how to make short- crust pastry, with the help of Mrs Anderson - one of our school governors. They used their new baking skill to make mince pies to sell at the Christmas Fair.

We are getting ready to make our own sandwiches. Today we practised the skills of chopping, grating and spreading. We had bags of chopped cucumber, lettuce and grated carrot to take home with us. Tasty!

Soon we will be designing and making our own sandwiches so today we prepared by tasting different bread options and a variety of possible fillings. Lots of us tried some foods for the very first time. We didn’t all like everything but well done everyone for giving it a try!

This week we have been using knives to chop food. We have talked about safety and tried the bridge method to keep our fingers safe.

Today we used the plans we had created to make our final bread pieces in DT. 
Once the pieces were kneaded, shaped and baked we decorated them. 
Mrs Walsh was the judge. She chose 3 winners.
