Factor Bugs
In Year 4, we are working hard to learn our times tables. Using our knowledge of the tables we have learnt, we have been making our own Factor Bugs.
Multiplying 2 digit numbers
We have been using Base 10 and place value counters to help us multiply 2 digit numbers. Using this apparatus meant we could see when exchanges needed to be made.
Having Fun With Cubes...
In maths we have been learning about different types of numbers - ask anyone in Year 5 if you fancy hearing the famous Prime Number Rap! Today it was... cube numbers.
We had lots of fun making the different cube numbers out of multilink. 1x1x1 was quite easy (needing only 1 multilink!)…
Sorting Objects
We had lots of fun collecting different objects we found around the school grounds. We then sorted them in lots of different ways.
Number recognition
We have been thinking more about the numbers to 100. Today we practised making different numbers using the Base 10 equipment. Mrs Cross then asked us to add or take away different amounts of tens or ones.
Introducing the greater than and less than signs < = >
We started using the greater than, less than and equals signs < = > to compare numbers.
Comparing Numbers
We chose numbers and compared the amounts using the vocabulary, “greater than, less than and equal to”.
Ordering numbers to 20
We have been ordering numbers to 20 and looking at the value of numbers.
Value of numbers
We have been looking at numbers and seeing how we can make them with different resources to understand the value of numbers.
Addition using number tracks
We played a game where we scored points for each bean bag we managed to throw into a hoop. We used number tracks to help us work out who scored the most points.
