
Make 10 to add two small numbers
Today we used the ten frames to practise quite a tricky but very important skill in maths. We were learning to use ten to add numbers. This means that instead of using our fingers to calculate 6 + 7, we used our number bonds to make the sum 6 + 4 + 3. As we know 6 + 4 = 10 already, we only haveā¦

Making healthy fruit kebabs
What a lot of fruit we had to share this afternoon! We made lovely healthy kebabs. The challenge was to try to make a repeating pattern with our favourite fruits.

We also practised our throwing and catching skills whilst counting in 1’s, 2’s, 5’s and 3’s.

Partitioning in different ways
Today we used the Base 10 to investigate partitioning numbers in different ways.

Grouping
Here we are grouping objects into sets to make counting them easier. We grouped them into 2’s, 5’s, 10’s and some of us even tried 3’s.

Today we learnt it’s much quicker to count larger sets of objects in groups rather than one at a time.

Water Work in the Sun
We took advantage of the VERY hot weather today and decided to work with water! We weren’t just playing though - we were estimating and measuring the capacity of different containers. We even converted between litres and pints. Water work was definitely a hit!
