We have been learning all about perimeter. Today, we were finding the perimeter of rectilinear shapes so we used a certain amount of matchsticks to make different shapes before working out the perimeter. 

We made playdough in Maths today. We used cups and tablespoons to measure our ingredients. We sieved, mixed and rolled our ingredients together.

We have been learning all about 2D shapes in maths.  Today we had to use rulers to draw them very carefully.  Here we are practising drawing straight lines on our whiteboards.  It was a lot trickier than it looked but we managed it!

Outside we have different challenges and activities for the Nursery children. This week the children are strengthening their hand muscles. They are spraying the fires with water bottles. We are talking about amounts to five and looking at the numeral that represents each.

We used different resources to make the teen numbers by looking at the ten and ones. 

Today we used the ten frames to practise quite a tricky but very important skill in maths.  We were learning to use ten to add numbers.  This means that instead of using our fingers to calculate 6 + 7, we used our number bonds to make the sum 6 + 4 + 3.  As we know 6 + 4 = 10 already, we only have…

What a lot of fruit we had to share this afternoon! We made lovely healthy kebabs. The challenge was to try to make a repeating pattern with our favourite fruits.

We also practised our throwing and catching skills whilst counting in 1’s, 2’s, 5’s and 3’s.

We used pine cones to practise our adding and subtracting today.

Today we used the Base 10 to investigate partitioning numbers in different ways.
