We had a great day dressing up as rock stars when Rock Kidz came into school and loved the singing and dancing. We revisited the very important message of being kind to everyone.

We have started the year by making graffiti art based on our names! We used bright contrasting colours and a black and white patterned background to make our names pop out! The classroom is looking bright already!

The amazing Rock Kidz came in to spread the important message of bullying. We spoke about what bullying is and what it means. 

What a fun week we have had in Y1!
We have begun learning the rules and where things are in our class. It has been lovely to see how well the children have started to settle into Y1 life. 

Today Steve and Harold from Life Education came to speak to us about our body and especially our brain.  We learnt what an incredible part of our body it is. We learn how we can help our brain to calm down and also how we can use our brain to solve problems. We loved meeting Harold the giraffe…

Thank you to Steve, who came into Reception. He spoke to us about our bodies and how we can stay healthy. We also got a visit from Harold the giraffe.

Steve from SCARF came in and talked about how we can keep healthy and safe. We discussed the foods we should eat to keep healthy, the importance of exercise and sleep. Harold the giraffe also helped us learn that message!

We had so much fun in Reception. We played with lots of new toys, learnt our school rules and enjoyed a story.

Some children entered the competition run by Standfast and Barracks to design a new fabric. The company then made this fabric with all our entries on. Don’t they look fantastic!

In maths, we follow the White Rose Maths scheme. In this scheme there is a tortoise called Tiny who often gets maths problems wrong. This helps the children understand that mistakes are part of learning and that we should have a go even if we are unsure of the answer. The children were keen to see…
