We enjoyed planting our sunflower seeds and making sure we knew what the seeds need. 

We went on a walk around our school to identify local flowering plants. We spotted daffodils, bluebells, crocus’ and tulips to name but a few. We also spotted some trees e.g the horse chestnut, conifer and beech. We enjoyed seeing some buds and going into our sensory garden. 

We have enjoyed looking after these worms for the last couple of weeks. We have made sure they have been fed, watered and kept in a dark place. They are amazing animals and we have enjoyed watching them. 

We have been looking at animals this half term.We discussed what makes an insect ? 
We spotted a few in our garden and then drew them, looking at the features. We made sure we put them back exactly where we found them. 

We looked at different types of flowers in our Scotforth garden. We spotted daffodils, crocus’ and bluebells too. We looked at how they started- as bulbs. 

When we went on out autumn walk, we spotted the green leaves that had fallen down and collected cookers in their spikey casing.

When we came to see the tree in winter, we saw it had lost most of it’s leaves.

As part of our topic of “Toys,” we are looking at different materials and their properties. We are using different vocabulary to describe the materials like hard, smooth, rough. 

In science we have looked at using keys to classify things, particularly living things. Today we used our knowledge of keys to create our own ones for a wide variety of sweets! In Year 4, we have been exploring different circuits and making our own. We have been investigating materials that are insulators and those that are electrical conductors.

We have been looking at everyday materials and sorting them in different ways. We discussed their material name and their properties. 

Today, we were learning about our circulatory system - how the blood moves around our bodies, providing our muscles with oxygen from our lungs. As part of our learning, we looked at some lambs' hearts to investigate how the vessels are linked inside.
